Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-28

NEURA (“NEURA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a brain-training app. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using NEURA you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

  • Anonymous profile. NEURA works without registration. On first launch the App creates a profile identified by an internal account id and a device-scoped identifier (Apple’s identifier-for-vendor). We do not require your name or email to use the App.
  • Optional account details. If sign-in (e.g. Sign in with Apple) is available and you choose to use it, we receive a basic identifier and, if you allow it, your name and email. You may also optionally set a display name (shown on the leaderboard) and your birth year — both optional.
  • Country (derived, not asked for). So the leaderboard can show you a country ranking, we work out a country from information we already have: your device’s time zone (see “Device & app data” below), looked up in the public IANA time-zone database that states which country each zone belongs to. No other source is used, and nothing is sent anywhere to determine it. It is a country, never a precise location. It is worked out once and then kept unchanged, so a trip does not move you between weekly rankings.
  • Onboarding answers. Your goals and the answers you give in the short onboarding questionnaire, used to personalize your training plan.
  • Gameplay data. Your game sessions and results (which games you played, rounds, answers, timing, scores), streaks, and daily-challenge activity. This is the core data the App needs to compute your progress and Focus Index.
  • Device & app data. Device type, OS version, app version, language/region, and timezone — linked to your profile and used to operate the App, keep your progress consistent across time zones, and diagnose problems.
  • In-app usage events. How you move through the App (screens opened, features used, games started/finished), collected via our product-analytics provider (Amplitude) to understand and improve the App. These events never include the content of your support messages.
  • Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store. We receive purchase/entitlement status from our payments provider (RevenueCat); we never receive your card or payment details.
  • Crash & error reports. If the App crashes or hits an error, a technical report (device type, OS and app version, and what the code was doing at that moment) is sent to our error-tracking provider (Sentry, hosted in the EU) so we can find and fix the problem. These reports are configured to exclude your personal details, message content, and credentials.
  • Support requests. If you contact us via the support form — on this site or inside the App — we receive the email address, subject, and message you submit, and we keep basic technical metadata to prevent abuse of the form. A request sent from inside the App also includes your app version, device OS and your NEURA account id, so we can reproduce the problem you are reporting; the form tells you this before you send it.
  • Content reports. If you report a display name shown on the leaderboard, we record the report — the reported name, and which accounts filed it and were reported — so our team can review it and act on names that break our rules (this is how we keep the leaderboard free of offensive content). Reports are handled by staff only; reporting a name never automatically punishes anyone.
  • Advertising attribution. We measure which campaigns bring people to NEURA through our attribution provider (AppsFlyer), which in turn reports measurements back to the advertising platforms we buy traffic on (currently Meta and TikTok — see section 5). If you grant the iOS App Tracking Transparency permission, this includes limited install/attribution data (an advertising identifier and campaign source). If you decline, the App works fully and no advertising identifier is collected; measurement then relies on Apple’s aggregated reporting (SKAdNetwork) and on the ad click itself, without any identifier taken from your device.
  • Notifications. When you accept our Terms, your account id and basic app state (e.g. current streak, subscription status) are shared with our notification provider (OneSignal) so notifications can be set up and targeted — such as a reminder that today’s challenge is about to close, and occasionally product updates or offers. A push token for your device is added only if you grant iOS notification permission — nothing can be delivered without it, and you can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings; the App works fully without them.

2. What we do NOT collect

  • No precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, or health data.
  • No third-party ads or data brokers; we do not sell your personal data.
  • Your gameplay data is never used to build advertising profiles.

3. How we use your information

  • To run your training: generate puzzles, track sessions, compute scores, streaks, the daily challenge, and your Focus Index.
  • To personalize your experience based on your goals and onboarding answers.
  • To operate your subscription and unlock what you’ve paid for.
  • To keep the service safe, prevent cheating and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
  • To diagnose problems and improve the App.
  • To answer your support requests.

4. Focus Index — what it is

The Focus Index is a score computed from your own gameplay results. It reflects how your performance in NEURA’s games changes over time. It is not an IQ score, a medical or psychological assessment, or a comparison of your intelligence with other people, and it should not be used for any medical, educational, or employment purpose.

5. Third-party services

We rely on a small set of providers strictly to run NEURA:

  • Apple — App Store distribution and payments (and Sign in with Apple, if you use it).
  • RevenueCat — subscription / purchase status management.
  • Amplitude — product analytics (in-app usage events) to understand and improve the App.
  • Sentry — crash and error reporting (hosted in the EU), so we can detect and fix bugs.
  • AppsFlyer — mobile attribution: measures which marketing campaigns lead to installs, and passes those measurements on to the platforms below (what is shared depends on your ATT choice — see section 1). On our website, the App Store button uses AppsFlyer OneLink to count the click and carry the campaign tags the visit arrived with (e.g. utm_…) through to the App Store — it involves no account data and reads nothing beyond that page URL.
  • OneSignal — notification delivery: account id and the app-state tags described in section 1 (shared once you accept our Terms), plus a push token if you allow notifications.
  • Meta and TikTok — the advertising platforms we buy traffic on. Through AppsFlyer they receive install and event measurements (for example, that a free trial started or a subscription was purchased) to gauge how our ads perform. Your device’s advertising identifier is shared only if you granted the ATT permission. Without it, these platforms are still told that a click on one of their ads led to an install or a subscription — matched by the click identifier they themselves generated, or through Apple’s aggregated, non-identifying reporting. Never your gameplay history, onboarding answers, or support messages.

Our servers are operated on infrastructure hosted in the EU.

6. Sharing & disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the service providers listed above to the extent needed to run NEURA, or where required by law. If you appear on the weekly leaderboard, the display name you chose and your weekly result are visible to other users; you can play without setting a display name. The leaderboard also has a per-country ranking, so which country we worked out for you (see section 1) determines which ranking you appear in — everyone you see there shares it. Weekly progress certificates you share via a link contain only anonymous figures.

7. Data retention & deletion

  • Your profile and gameplay data are kept while you use NEURA so your progress and history work.
  • You can request deletion of your data from within the App. Deletion anonymizes your profile: personal identifiers (email, sign-in identifiers, display name, and similar) are permanently removed, and shared certificate links stop working. Any content reports naming you are redacted so they no longer identify you; reports you filed about others are kept as moderation history. Purchase records are retained in anonymized form as long as required for tax and legal obligations. We also send deletion requests to our analytics, attribution, and notification providers (Amplitude, AppsFlyer, OneSignal) so the usage data tied to your app identity is erased on their side too.
  • Support requests are kept only as long as needed to handle them and prevent abuse, and no longer than 180 days. You can ask us to delete your support messages earlier by writing to support@neurabrain.app.
  • Backups. We keep backups of our database so we can recover from failure or data loss. A backup taken before your deletion request still contains your data: backups are never edited, but they expire automatically within 30 days. In the rare event that we restore from a backup, we re-apply the deletion requests recorded after it — so your deletion is not undone by a restore. Backups are stored in the EU (Germany/Finland) by our infrastructure provider.

8. Your choices & rights

  • Use NEURA without an account, a name, or an email.
  • Set or remove your leaderboard display name at any time.
  • Export your data from within the App (Settings → Export my data) — a machine-readable JSON file of everything we hold about you.
  • Delete your account from within the App (Settings → Delete account). This is immediate and cannot be undone. It does not cancel an App Store subscription — cancel that in your Apple Account settings.
  • Decline the tracking permission (if shown) and keep using NEURA fully.
  • Ask us to correct the country we worked out for you (section 1) if it is wrong — for example after you move. We do not recalculate it on our own, precisely so that a trip cannot move you between weekly rankings, so write to us and we will reset it; it is then worked out again the next time you open the App.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability). Contact us via the support form or at support@neurabrain.app to exercise them.

9. Children

NEURA is not directed to children. You must be old enough to consent to this policy in your country (and in any case at least 13 years old).

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

11. International transfers

Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above; continued use of NEURA means you accept the updated policy.
